When most people think of Internet phone service Vonage is one of the first providers that comes to mind, but that isn’t necessarily due to Vonage’s quality of service, or competitive pricing in comparison to other broadband phone providers. In fact, Vonage is one of the most expensive. Being well known (thanks to big advertising) doesn’t mean the best. There are lesser known providers that are much cheaper, and even offer a lot more features like PhonePower, Lingo, JoiPhone, ViaTalk, or 8×8 just to name a few.
You can find more phone providers like Vonage by doing a simple search in Google for terms like VoIP phone service, broadband phone, or Internet phone service. Just keep in mind that there are VoIP providers like Skype that use computer software instead of a VoIP router and standard telephone. If you want regular home phone service be sure the VoIP companies you’re comparing are actual broadband phone providers. Skype, and others like it are VoIP, but they are not broadband phone.
