In today's world we have a cornucopia of telephone services to choose from. Some of the most common being landline phone service, broadband or digital phone, and cell phone service. Landline Phone Service and Calling Plans
allow you to make local and long distance phone calls in a traditional fashion. This is the typical old fashioned phone service. Calling plans for landline can include local phone service, or local with long distance on a cent per minute rate, or unlimited local and long distance for a monthly flat rate.

Cell Phone Service and Plans
basically come in two forms; monthly and prepaid. While monthly plans are fairly straight forward, prepaid plans aren't so cut and dried. Prepaid cellular comes in two flavors. You can get a monthly prepaid plan which is similar to a regular cell phone service plan, or you can choose Pay as You Go which allows you to add minutes only when you need them.

Broadband Phone and Digital Phone Service
uses your Internet connection to make and receive phone calls. These calling plans are often much cheaper than traditional landline phone service. While many broadband phone services require you to use a VoIP router, digital phone from a cable company often times just use the wall jacks that you would normally use for landline home phone service.
